Over on DIY & dragons you can find the Summer LEGO RPG Setting Jam, where tabletop designers are encouraged to create adventure settings based on the LEGO sets of their youth. I’m new to editing/layout and thought this would be a great opportunity to dip my toes into it. So here’s my entry: Towers of Trumbagar.
Trumbagar is a barony on the borderlands with an abundance of towers. The Iron Baron loves to build watchtowers in order to defend and control his petty domain. The vicious troll-goblins worship towers as gods, and their greatest warriors ride their rolling war-god GRUDGE. The wizard Bitterbone has a tower of her own, a conduit to dreadful cosmic power that she barely understands.
I’m not much of an artist (“doodler” might be a more appropriate descriptor), but little projects like this may encourage me to get better at it. Or, if I design something worth selling, I’ll just commission someone with real artistic skill.
This pamphlet adventure setting was made using brstf’s A5 pamphlet Affinity template, which was hugely helpful to me as someone who’d never used layout software before. The tiny pamphlet format also forced me to keep my ideas concise and punchy, which I appreciate.
Towers of Trumbagar is inspired by two LEGO sets I admired growing up. Now that I can buy my own LEGO sets, I’m daunted by the price of them. So it goes!
The first is 7037-1: Tower Raid:
And the second is 7093: Skeleton Tower:
